Emergency life-raft repair
MV Great Jade
Recently we had a call from an international shipping agent about a tanker due to berth and unload at Tilbury Docks. The bulk carrier had encountered a storm during its trip from Murmansk to Tilbury. One of the emergency life rafts had sustained major damage to the bow.
When it reached Tilbury, it was impounded for safety reasons. Its Hong Kong owners agreed to a repair at our factory. We undertook a high speed repair and returned the life raft to the tanker within three days. It was inspected, certified and declared safe. The MV Great Jade was allowed to sail avoiding serious financial loss.
